SPINNERETTE

SPINNERETTE

An interesting character created by Janet Heatherington and Ron Sutton, Spinnerette was a “spider-vampire” whose inspiration appears to have been “Vampirella”. In the first sketches of the character she is a dangerous woman but one who appears to confine her predatory actives to villains, extracting her nourishment from them. In the preliminary story Ariadne” which is her name in her human form turns into a giant spider generating other smaller spiders when threatened. There was also an insipient love interest with Roger Landis who is the narrator.

Unfortunately, the character was never developed beyond the preliminary stages and the many questions created in the initial story remain unanswered. . However, in Song of the Sirens there is an announcement for a future “Spinnerette series that suggests a serial was in the planning, but not realized.
