FAWKES Ray

FAWKES Ray

A Toronto based fine artist and writer of graphic novels, prose fiction, and games, Fawkes’ work ranges in style from introspective, dreamscape horror to bombastic slapstick.

He won the CBC Radio “Bookie” award for The Spectral Engine and the YALSA award by the American Library Association for Possessions Book One: Unclean Getaway.

In addition to the titles below, he has authored Underwinter, and worked on DC titles, Batman Eternal Constantine and Gotham By Midnight. He has also participated in the North Wing Project.

This illustrator for magicians and magic publications became interested in graphic stories at a very young age trying to decipher Herge’s Tin Tin stories while not knowing the language. His brother’s collection of Blueberry/Fort Navajo stories by Gir and stories by other Franco-Belge cartoonists increased his fascination with bandes dessinée. He has originated the anthologies Drawing the Line and Drawing the Line Again which have raised more than $40,000 for cancer research. He has contributed to other anthologies including Growing Up With Comics.

FAMILY DYNAMIC

Created by J. Torres and Tim Levins, “The Family Dynamic” is composed of elemental heroes the father “Redfire” (fire), mother “Northwind” (air), with sons “Tundra”(earth) and Mariner (water) also called “Luca”.

These elemental heroes fight elemental villains. In the first story they stop a blizzard created by “Whiteout.” In the second story they fight a giant tree called “Coniferous Man”.

The third story written by Torres but illustrated by J. Bone, is mainly “Tundra” being counseled by “Grey Owl”, another hero from the creative minds of the True Patriot team. “Tundra” is feeling bad about his large size. In the end the conversation saves him from being digested by a earth eating plant.

The stories are lighthearted and humorous.
