McDAYTER Walter

This Toronto Telegram journalist wrote the historical cartoon strip “The Giants” from its inception in September 4 1964. He stopped writing the strip after August 10 1968, although it continued into 1969.

He was also the journalist who in 1966 first brought to public attention Camp X the World War 2 and post war intelligence camp near Whitby Ontario which was so secret that most of the government including the Prime Minister knew nothing about it. He wrote a two part article for the Toronto Telegram. The second part was quashed before publication. He also edited A Media Mosaic: Canadian communications through a critical eye in 1971.
