GEORGE AND ET JACQUES
“George and Jacques” was a humorous historical serial created by editorial cartoonist Adrian Raeside. It ran in the Toronto Daily Star from February 1 to April 13, 1979. It ended because the two French language girls in Victoria who did the translations for Raeside inserted the word “merde” into the strip. There were angry letters to the editor and the Toronto Star became nervous about the strip. “Captain Starship” was then born.
Raeside suspects that starting “Captain Starship” at 3-1 was because it started were “George and Jacques” left off. This seems correct as “George and Jacques” left off a 2-42.
