He was a freelance a cartoonist who appeared in magazines like The Star Weekly, Weekend and Maclean’s and produced the books listed below. In 1965 at the Second International Salon of Cartoons in Montréal he shared the top prize in the editorial cartoons division with Victor Weiz.

He did film strips for the National Film Board. In his later years he turned to sculpture, building his own foundry.

He was born about 1921 in Brockville Ontario. He lived in Halifax and spent four years travelling the world as a ship’s wireless operator. He went to Montréal in 1945 studied painting for two years and began selling cartoons. From the late 1940’s to his death, he and his family resided in Morin Heights, Québec in a rebuilt homesteader’s house known locally as Whalley’s Folly. His chief hobby was playing the oboe. He died September 18, 2007 in a hospital in St Jérôme Quebec at the age of 86 years.
