MORRISSETTE Gabriel
Mackenzie Queen, 1-3, 1985: Inside front cover.
Born 26 September 1959 in Abitibi Québec.
He studied animation at Concordia University in Montréal.
He met Mark Shainblum through Myles Charon owner of Montréal’s largest comics shop and the two created “Northguard”, Shainblum writing and l Morrissette illustrating. This hero first appeared in New Triumph no. 1, 1984. Later the two created a second hero “Infinite Man” which Shainblum says is mostly Morrissette’s doing. They joined forces again in 1995 to create “Angloman”.
He contributed to Croc and Titanic, illustrated the sci-fi title Gaijin, and created a semi-humorous detective series called “Anne Chance”.
With the September/October 1997 issue of Chickadee (later renamed chickaDEE), Gabriel assumed the illustrative duties for the feature “Daisy Dreamer” He continued in this function till at least 2014, making it the longest cartoon feature he was involved in.
