BELL Charles Edward

BELL Charles Edward

He was born in Portage la Prairie, Saskatchewan. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War, he joined the staff of the Regina Herald in 1948 as a reporter. Always interested in cartooning, he began producing catoons for his paper in the 1950’s and eventually became their daily editorial cartoonist. He is remembered particularly for his cartoons critical of Saskatchewan’s C.C.F. government. Several of these were collected in a booklet entitled Pie in the Sky. Eventually Bell stopped cartooning and became a senior editor at the Leader-Post.
