NEIL THE HORSE

NEIL THE HORSE

“Making the world safe for musical comedy”                                                                The motto of Neil The Horse

Neil The Horse was created by Arn Saba before he became Katherine Collins. This quirky creation was a musical funny animal comic based on the style of early Walt Disney features.

Neil was a naïve, child like character. Mam’selle Poupée was a marionette, worldly and of the theatre. Soapy was a cigar chomping alley cat, very street wise. The three watched out for each other or more specifically Mam’selle Poupée and Soapy watched out for Neil.

The characters moved through many genres: historical and science fiction, fantasy and stories associated with the theatre, especially music and dance. Indeed a story like Video Warrior” almost reads like musical theatre.

Neil appeared in newspapers, children’s books, cartoon periodicals and was heard in radio plays on the CBC. When Arn moved to California, a musical theatre production was being prepared. For reasons not associated with the musical it never reached completion. Hopefully, it may yet reach the stage.
