MÉTIVIER Serge

Born: 1954, in Levis Québec.

This artist has lived three lives, as a caricaturist, an animator and a musician.

As a caricaturist, he has produced editorial cartoons for Éditions Nordique, apparently composed of Le Charlevoisen, Le Manic, Journal Haute Côte-Nord and Le Nord Côtier. They have also appeared in Journal de Montréal and Journal de Québec. His work has appeared in both anthologies and collections. In 2007, he won the George Townsend Award (“Townsie”) at the May Toronto Cartoon Arts Festival. As an entertainer/artist, he appeared in the 1980’s on L’heure de la bonne humour, a series on CFCM-TV, then from 1988 to 1992 on Fais-moi un dessin produced for TVA.

As an animator, in 1997, he designed Toile de fond ( 20 programs) for Vidéotron Levis, and 2005 he created La Faune en dessini (13 programs) for Rogers Television in New Brunswick.

As a guitarist and soloist, he performed in the 1970’s and 1980’s with rock bands like Spyrex, Le Frénésie, MDR4, S.O.S.. In the 1990’s he performed as a duet with his brother in Les Métivier Brothers. 1999 to 2008 he performed in Les Blues Busters and in 2008 formed Les Roadblues Band.
