HEAVY METAL – FILM

HEAVY METAL – THE FILM

Producer Ivan Reitman based this film which was an animated anthology of science fiction, fantasy and horror, on the adult graphic magazine Heavy Metal which in turn owed its inspiration to the French magazine Metal Hurlant. The film was largely produced in Montréal using the production facilities of Director Gerald Potterton’s Potterton Productions and of Ottawa’s Atkinson Film Arts Ltd. A pioneering film of the 1970’s, it has not aged well.
