Steve Milo of Washington “a notorious speculator” in black and white comics seems to have been the force behind “The Adventurers”. He got his high school friend and “Dungeons and Dragons” game mate to write the story. Initially Peter Hsu was to illustrate it. He recommended Ron Kasman to do the lettering. After the first issue Peter turned the illustrating duties over to Kent Burles and confined himself to illustrating covers although as time passed this became a joint effort with Kent. His last cover was The Adventurers, Bk. II, no. 1, January. 1988.
With issue 2 of “The Adventurers” series Kent took over the content illustrating duties from Peter Hsu. As the series progressed he also became co-illustrator of the covers. When the “The Grail of Darkness” serial began in Adventurers Book II, he became a penciller with Steve Stiles doing the inking for most of the issues. At the end of the series Book II, 7, March 1989. Kent added writer to his duties..
In 1986 Steve transferred the series to his company Adventure Publishing in the Washington area ( Fairfax Virgina) reprinted the two Aircel issues and continued the serial. It appears that after Adventures, 3, the team decided to introduce an origin story. This issue became Adventurers 0. “The Gates of Chaos’ serial occupied the first ten issues. With “The Grail of Darkness” The Adventurers, Bk. II, a new adventure occurring several years later began. Scott left the project after Adventures Bk. II, no. 1, January 1988 to complete his studies at George Mason University also in Fairfax Virginia.
Ron Kasman left the series with Adventurers, 7, July 1987. Ian Carr took on the roll of letterer.
