ASSOC. OF CDN EDITORIAL CARTOONISTS

ASSOCIATION OF CANADIAN EDITORIAL CARTOONISTS

It was founded in 1988 in Winnipeg to promote the interests of Canadian editorial cartoonists..

Christopher Tracy (Wes Tyrell) was elected President in 2012, at the Association’ Montréal conference. Under his Presidency, in 2014 the George Townsend Awards (See AWARDS GEORGE TOWNSEND)were introduced to replace the National Newspaper Awards (See AWARDS NATIONAL NEWSPAPER). Then in 2015, a movement to broaden the Association’s membership and scope to include all cartooning disciplines was set in motion. To reflect this change the Association altered its name to Association of Canadian Cartoonists in 2015.
